Note, however, that I AM considering my audience. To explain …
One of the advantages of running for the OLP is that I know with certainty that I will NOT get elected. This frees me to "speak my truth" and try to reach out to that subset of the electorate for whom my message resonates.
I believe that one of the main reasons for declining voter turnout is that, at the polls, the voters are provided ONLY with big government alternatives [ Blue, Orange, Red, Green = "BORG" ]. I ran in the last election because I do not believe that I live in a true democracy of the only options for which to cast my vote are the BORG options; I chose to become the "less government" option because someone had to 'step up' to make this option available. I am proud to say that, for the first time, the Thornhill riding had a Libertarian choice at the polls.
I only received 635 votes compared to the 20,000+ that it took to win the riding, but that was still 635 votes for 'less government' than was possible in the past. Consider this: if only 1% of the voting population in my riding were familiar with Libertarian principles in the last election, think how many votes I may get next time if 50% are aware? [635 x 50 = 31,750]?
Very few voters are aware of the OLP and what we stand for; the media only presents the BORG campaigns & news events. Consequently, it is up to we Libertarians to use whatever means at our disposal [ largely low budget social media venues] to compete with mainstream media for the hearts and minds of our citizens.
My point is, like Ron Paul's Campaign for Liberty, the OLP challenge is to reach as many voters as possible with a message that "government comes at a price, and responsible government must be able to finance its operations responsibly."
Ayn Rand and Murray Rothbard are simple sources of inspiration and information that are accessible to anyone who wishes to know more about how the Libertarian movement reached its conclusions and what constitutes a truly just, civil and caring society.
Have a great day !

G.j. Hagenaars 9:31pm Dec 9 @Gene: consider who your audience is supposed to be. Average voters, or hard core philosophical libertarians who can quote Ayn Rand and Rothbard at will?
